Frank Frenzy is truly a virtuoso guitar player, and all the brutal evidence radiates from this set. How to describe 'Violence Ambience', one of my absolute fave CDs of the year? The tracks exist as "audio accounts" of violent experiences, from a Glaswegian burglary/knife assault (Del's Story), to a personal loss in lock-up (Death In A Prison Hospital). Yes, the themes are harsh, but the actual music? Sheer bliss, from track one........... All the way to the eerily brilliant closer, Menagerie, which has sampled cats moaning and meowing, building on the beautiful menace of the cinematic instrumentation. Easily one of the best chill-out records I have ever heard.
