MIKE PEARLSTEIN REVIEWS VIOLENCE AMBIENCE FOR THE BIG TAKEOVER.

Luminous Frenzy are Frank Frenzy (of cult UK band The Playthings), singer Louise Luminous, and producer Guy Jackson.

Frank Frenzy is truly a virtuoso guitar player, and all the brutal evidence radiates from this set.

How to describe Violence Ambience, one of my absolute fave CDs of the year? The tracks exist as "audio accounts" of violent experiences, from a Glaswegian burglary/knife assault ("Del's Story"), to a personal loss in lockup ("Death In A Prison Hospital"). Yes, the themes are harsh, but the actual music? Sheer bliss, from track one...........All the way to the eerily brilliant closer,'Menagerie', which has sampled cats moaning and meowing, building on the beautiful menace of the cinematic instrumentation.

'Violence Ambience' is easily one of the best chill-out records I have ever heard (and that's no faint praise).

Mike Pearlstein for [The Big Takeover] this review is in issue#57 out soon.

VIOLENCE AMBIENCE OFFICIALY RELEASED.

Violence Ambience, the eagerly awaited album from Luminous Frenzy, has been officialy released
by London based label Freeport records. Promo copies of the album have already caused much excitement.

Violence Ambience is the debut album release from Luminous Frenzy who are Frank Frenzy, the “Godlike guitarist” (NME) in former British cult band The Playthings, singer Louise Luminous
and producer Guy Jackson.

The album is reminiscent of KLF’s landmark Chill Out, Harold Budd’s Lovely Thunder and strains of Throbbing Gristle / Psychic TV. It’s a touching, sad and often sinister journey through real life experiences of violence that weave their way in and out of a delicate, almost pastoral soundscape.

Luminous Frenzy... are the cutting edge of musical progression at the moment - Pete Lawrence, The Big Chill
I love Frank’s music - Irene Jacob [Actress - Three Colours Red]
McEmotion brought a sinister and compelling twist to McLibel at a critical moment in the film – Franny Armstrong, Director of McLibel

WORLD PREMIERE OF McLIBEL [09/04/05]

Directed by Franny Armstrong, with music and voiceover by Luminous Frenzy, Spanner Films documentary of the famous 'McLibel' case has its world premiere at the Curzon Cinema in Soho, London. McLibel tells the true story of the postman and the gardener who humiliated McDonald's in "the biggest corporate disaster in history".

Penniless campaigners Helen Steel and Dave Morris received a libel writ from McDonald's back in 1990 over a leaflet they were handing out in the street. McDonald's expected them to quickly apologise in court - as the BBC, Sunday Times and many others had done before. Big Mac could never have guessed at the determination, tenacity and pure stubborness that would drive Helen and Dave through the battle which raged for the next 15 years. A battle which ended in victory in February 2005 at the European Court of Human Rights [goto www.spannerfilms.net]
